The Mediocre Players Guide to Cav EQ
November 2023
NOTE: I only do a write up on my first fight against the bosses in this Guide. All other Rounds are recorded in the TB Guide since they are the same exact nodes.
Old Sarge's Initial Thoughts: Coming Soon!
Good luck to everyone running EQ this month, I hope this guide helps. As always- when someone posts a champ that kills a quest or a Boss, I'll update the guide!
Chapter 1.1: TECH with Cosmic Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
Sauron: He can be quite a pain- I suggest using Yondu or HtD (with Not So Uncanny synergy member [Gambit | Bishop | StormPX | or PlatnumPool. Yondu and HtD can remove Prowess so he doesn't go Unblockable. I used Yondu.
Abomination: Bring a poison immune. I used Warlock.
Guillotine: Easy fight. I used Shuri.- but that Pain Link almost got me- so watch out for that.
Punisher: His SSPs do a lot of damage through block- so bring someone beefy. I used HulkBuster.
Darkhawk: Tough fight for a Teck. I used Warlock and just didnt knock him down until I had my SP1. Block his SP1 and bait it so you don't have to deal with his invisibility shield whatever it is.
StormPX: Easy fight- her SP1 is easy to Dex. I used HulkBuster.
Quest Boss: Hulk (Science)
Main Nodes:
Heavy Bias: Will launch heavies 30% more often.
Genetic Overclock: Use Tech or Mutant attackers. All others have 50% reduced attack.
You Get the Horns: If you intercept him or interrupt his Heavy he gets a Fury. If he gets 5 Furies he gets a big passive Fury for 10 seconds.
Rushdown: You start with 3 Rushdown Charges. You lose a charge if Hulk lands a Dash Attack or if you Block him. Knocking him down restores a Rushdown Charge on you. If you lose all 3 Charges you are Stunned for 3 Seconds and then your Charges are restored and the process starts over.
Encroaching Stun: Every 20 Seconds you get Stunned for 3 seconds unless you are preforming a Special Attack 1 or 2 when the timer expires.
Old Sarge Says:
According to my Immunities database (https://www.theoldsarge.net/immunities): Emma (while in diamond form), Gladiator (With 24 or more Confidence Buffs), and Nick Fury (While in Real Nick Fury) has Stun Immunity. I do not recommend Nick or Gladiator because of Genetic Overclock node.
Also- Valkyrie can go Stun Immune and deal with Unstoppable.
Thronebreaker Run: This is not a fun fight. I used Emma and she did ok- I mistimed some of her specials and got caught with the Encroaching Stun a couple times. She got him to 44% health She's a 6* R2. Finished him off pretty easy with Warlock- just did Parry/Heavy and timed the Encroaching Stun with Warlocks long specials. You want a champ that has long Special's so the Encroaching Stun is easier to manage.
Cavalier Run: This is a tough fight with his Gamma Rage/Unstoppable rework. He goes into Gamma Rage when he gets 15 furies- so watch for that. I used Warlock and screwed up by pushing him to his SP3 because I had to launch a Special to avoid the Encroaching Stun- but I survived it and used my SP1 the next time the Stun Timer was close since it is a long Special. That's the key- bring a champ that has a long Special to help with timing.

Chapter 1.2: MYSTIC with SCIENCE as Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
Medusa: If you have BWCV then this fight is easy- any mystic that can nullify her Furies will work just fine. I used BWCV.
Silver Centurion: He's pretty easy- I bait his SP1 and I have gotten pretty good at Dexing it- but you can just block it. I used Mangog.
Sorcerer Supreme: Easy fight. I used Doom to help with her Power Gain.
Black Cat: She is the only real tricky fight on the path. Her SP1 is ok to Dex but I mistime it sometimes. But I prefer it to her SP2. I like using BWCV against her, so that's what I did.
Storm: Her SP1 is easy to Dex but you better not mistime it cause it really hurts. I used Doom.
Carnage: Easy fight- I used Mangog again cause he's fun.
Quest Boss: Sasquatch (Mystic)
Main Nodes:
Aggression: Regen: Every 2 seconds he gains a Regen Passive. When you hit him the timer is paused and it removes one Regen.
Bane of Damballah: If you have a Buff he deals 50% extra damage and has 10% Life Steal.
Dazed and Confused: Well-Timed Blocks from you start a 9 Second Timer- if you Well-Time block again within the 9 seconds you get a 100% Falter Debuff for 5 seconds causing all your attacks to miss. (Oh- this sounds like fun, he typed sarcastically).
Crimson Rage: Every 8 seconds he gains an Unstoppable Buff for 4 seconds unless he is suffering from a Bleed Debuff or Passive when the timer expires.
High Energy Diet: He has 99% Energy Resistance and Energy Hits regen him for all the damage he would have taken. If you put an Incinerate, Shock, or Coldsnap Debuff on him he gains 100% of a bar of power every 10 Seconds.
Old Sarge Says:
Thronebreaker Run: WOWZERS!! This is a tough fight. He ran through Nick, GwenPool, and Ronin. Restarted the path and swapped out GP and Ronin for Cap IW and Morbius.
Round 1.5: I ran it with Cap IW and he "can" do it, but it is a pain. I got him down to about 30% health and quit out to try Morbius. This fight was MADE FOR MORBIUS!! Super easy W.
Cavalier Run: I tried Scorpion but I screwed up and put his Rupture Pre-fight on so I didn't get Poisons to help deal with his Regen. Plus- Scorpion has no way to deal with his Unstoppable from Crimson Rage so it's a hard fight. If you have Morbius then "It's Morbin' Time!!"- he wrecks this fight.
Civilian Intel:
Use ArchAngel.
Use Silk.
Use Valkyrie.
Scorpion
Sandman is slow but fun.

Chapter 2.1: COSMIC with MYSTIC Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
Ghost: Easy Fight. I used Hercules.
Beast: Easy fight. I used Herc again.
Spot: He can be a pain in the ass. His SPs are long and multi hits- just Dex like crazy and watch for when he goes Untouchable. I used King Groot for this cause I know I will take some damage and he can regen it all.
Moon Knight: Pretty easy fight- I prefer to push him to his SP2 but he likes to throw his SP1 a lot. You can Dex it or block it. I used Hyperion.
Ronan: Easy fight. Both SPs are easy to Dex. I used Herc.
Punisher 2099: He's a pain in the ass- his Specials are impossible to dex and they do damage through Block. I used King Groot again because of his insane Regen. NOTE: Punisher99 puts a lot of Heal Blocks on you.
Quest Boss: Abomination (Immortal) (Science)
Main Nodes:
Bubble Shield: Each time you Block an Attack your Block Proficiency drops. After 10 Blocks his next attack is Unblockable.
Matador: You get a Bar of Power when he activates a Special. This is the only way you gain power.
Enhanced Special 2: His SP 2 does more damage and the first hit is Unblockable.
Cold Turkey III: If you purify a Debuff you get a Burst of Degen.
Window of Opportunity - Stun: He starts the fight Stun Immune. When he would be stunned, you are stunned instead (no Parry's). The immunity lasts for 12 seconds and then goes on a 12 Second cooldown before returning. When the immunity returns it purifies any stuns on him.
Old Sarge Says:
Thronebreaker Run: Easy fight with Overseer. Bring a Poison Immune. Don't block to often. Easy to dex is SP1 but it does cover a lot of ground so make sure you push him back as much as you can.
Cavalier Run: I ran Hulkling against him and it went pretty well. But he is super aggressive so it was hard to build the Shapeshift Charges. Still- he took care of Abom. Just be careful not to block a lot cause he gets that Unblockable.

Chapter 2.2: SKILL with Mutant Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
Silk: She is a pain in the ass to fight. I still don't really understand how to fight her- I just mash buttons and hope she dies. I used Nick.
Iron Fist Immortal: Easy Win. I used Masacre.
Gladiator: He can be a pain- I like to Bait his SP1. His SP2 is brutal. I used Kingpin. Just watch out if you bait his SP1- he get's an Unstoppable Buff after it's over.
Black Widow Deadly Origins: Easy fight. I used Kingpin in case I got a Shock on me.
HulkBuster: I recommend a Skill champ that can Shrug since he will put Shocks on you. I used Kingpin.
Spider-Ham: He's a pain with his Porker Poppers and Evade. I used Nick. Just watch for those Poppers. And bait his SP1.
Quest Boss: Knull (Cosmic)
Main Nodes:
Power Focus 2: Gains +60% more Power while under 2 Bars but suffers -80% Power Gain while above 2 Bars.
Pretty Basic: Your Special Attacks and Damage Over Time effects deal 95% less damage, but Lights and Medium Attacks deal 200% more damage.
Combo Party: You gain a Cruelty Buff for every 10 hits on your Combo Meter- but if you lose your Combo (get hit) you lose your Cruelties and take a big burst of damage for each Cruelty removed.
Counterstrike: If you Dex it grants you a Passive Fury charge. At 5 Fury charges they are all lost and Knull goes Unblockable for 9 seconds.
Knockdown Crit: When you knock him down he gets increased Crit Resistance for 15 seconds.
Old Sarge Says:
Thronebreaker Run: This is an easy Doom fight. Nothing special about it. Just Power Gain to his SP2- which is the one you want to get to anyway.
Cavalier Run: I got the solo with Mantis but it was super sloppy. Her SP2 did almost no damage- not sure why. The Power Focus node makes it easy to push him to his SP2 but it's a long one that eats up a ton of space so Dex like crazy. Doom is a top option. But anyone can get this fight done.

Chapter 3.1: MUTANT with TECH Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
Hit-Monkey: He's not hard but he can catch you off guard with his quick Heavies. I used Apoc. Bait his SP1- it's easy to Dex.
Super-Skrull: I hate fighting him- he's easy but there is just a lot of waiting around. I used Bishop. Just make sure you Bait his SP1- his SP2 is brutal. {I forgot he is Incinerate Immune- lol}
Red Guardian: Easy fight. Both his SP1 and 2 are easy to Dex. I used Apoc.
Dragon Man: Probably the hardest fight on the path because of his Power Gain and his SP1 and 2. The SP1 covers a lot of ground and his SP2 is brutal.
Cyclops (Blue): "He's effective." ~ KabamMiike. Easy Win- I used Apoc for the final Charge.
Black Panther (Civil War): Don't Parry him when he has an Armor Up or your gonna have a bad time. I used ArchAngel.
Quest Boss: Kushala (Mystic)
Main Nodes:
Trial by Fire II: If you don't hit her within 4 Seconds you get an Incinerate Debuff on you for 8 seconds.
Resistance is Futile: If you are Immune to something she gains a Power Gain Buff granting 15% of her Max Power over 3 seconds.
Written in Flame: For every 10 hits on your Combo Meter you gain an indefinite 350 potency Energy Resistance Buff. If you lose your combo you lose the Energy Resist and take a big burst of Direct Damage for each Energy Resist Buff removed. If these Buffs fail due to Immunity or Ability Accuracy reduction you take twice as much Direct Damage.
Ticking Soul Bomb: When you perform a Well-Timed Block you get a Fuse Charge. For every 10 hits on your Combo Meter, remove a Fuse Charge. When you get 3 Fuse Charges they are removed and you get a Soul Barb Passive, dealing 8% of her attack as Energy Damage per second for each Buff on the Opponent (not sure if this is you or her) for 20 seconds.
Explosive Personality: If you hit her block she gets an Armor Up Buff. When she gets 5 Armor Ups they explode and you lose 25% of your max health.
Old Sarge Says:
Thronebreaker Run: She is Bleed and Incinerate Immune- I put ArchAngel in just to get a feel for the fight. He did ok. Then I ran Red Hulk and he did pretty good. He isn't Incinerate Immune but he removes them fast so you don't have to deal with Resistance is Futile or worry about Trial by Fire nodes. I forgot about Explosive Personality though so I took some damage. But I got her down.
Notes: Her SP1 is kind of like a cross between Doc Strange SP1 and SP2. The timing is weird. I just Blocked it. Her SP2 is harsh- bait the SP1.
Cavalier Run: Welp, Bishop died fast. I took her SP2 to the face. Bad Idea. Apoc cleaned up- but once he goes Incinerate Immune she gains power like crazy- the good news is her Incinerates seem to be what does the most damage. I still think Red Hulk is one of the better options.
Sarge Says: She looks AMAZING!! The champ designers really knocked it out of the park! Her SP3 is beautiful!!!

Chapter 3.2: SCIENCE with SKILL Secondary
Easy Path Fights:
NOTE: The "Easy Path" is NOT easy. There are multiple pain in the ass fights- you may be better off scouting the other paths to see if there is an easier option.
Ebony Maw: Hate this jerk. I used Gladiator Hulk so I don't have to worry about the Degen and his Heavy has a long reach so I can Counter Heavy his Heavy.
MODOK: Bring a Parry/Heavy champ. I used Cap IW. Bait his SP1- it's easy to Dex as long as you are a few spaces away.
Sentinel: Pain in the ass if you are using a Science Champ (or Skill). His SP1 is easier for me to Dex. This is just a long fight. I used Cap IW.
Superior Iron Man: He's not very Superior- he's an easy Win. I used Morbius.
Emma Frost: Another annoying and long fight unless you have a way to Armor Break her- and I don't. So I'll use Cap IW again and block everything to charge him up for the big SP2's.
Unstoppable Colossus: He's annoying, not hard. I'll use Cap IW again since he can negate Unstoppable when he has a Charge.
Quest Boss: Chee'ilth (Skill)
Main Nodes:
Enhanced Parry - Power Gain: Each time you Parry you get a Power Gain Buff granting 1 Bar of Power to you over 5 seconds.
Physical Burst Reflect: 80% of ALL Physical Damage she takes is also dealt to you as Direct Damage.
Bear Necessity: She has a 90% chance to Auto-Block basic attacks. It counts as a Well-Timed Block (you will get Parried). It goes on cooldown for 8 seconds when she is knocked down. Striking her refreshes the cooldown.
No Hit-M...ercy (Buff): Each time you knock her down she gets a Cruelty Buff increasing her Crit Damage Rating for 7 seconds. While she has a Cruelty she can Crit through Block.
Parry: Well-timed Blocks are more effective, and Stun attackers making contact.
Old Sarge Says:
Thronebreaker Run: She's a massive pain. You can't intercept her cause she auto-blocks which is a Parry. You can't Parry her cause she just shrugs it. I actually did ok with Scorpion but didn't get the W. Then I used BLCV cause she only does Energy Damage and I did ok- but no W. Finished up with Doom.
NOTES: Start the fight with holding block and bait her Heavy- its two hits and it's really slow so shallow evade and after the first part launch your Heavy to knock her down and put Bear Necessity on cooldown for 8 seconds- you should be able to intercept and hit without getting Auto-Blocked for a little while- the cool down timer is refreshed each time you are hit her. . Rinse and Repeat until you have a Special and launch it- this will knock her down again and give you that 8 second window. Her SP1 is easy to dex- after the 3rd bear swipe you can go in- as long as that 8 second timer didn't expire. Her SP2 has a blast at the end I just blocked.
NOTES2: Just make sure you aren't using a champ that does a lot of Physical Damage!!
Cavalier Run: Well- Morbius is not a good matchup for her. lol. But BLCV is super solid for her- I kept BWCV in Bleed mode so I could heal from the SP2. As long as she doesn't get stingy with throwing her SP1 it's an easy fight. Just remember not to bring a Champ that does a lot of Physical Damage because of the Physical Burst Reflect node.
Civilian Intel: Colossus with White Mags pre-fight works great.
