The Mediocre Players Guide to Thronebreaker EQ
April 2024
Old Sarge's Initial Thoughts: Easy Paths are pretty good. Watch out for 2.2 Easy Path- a lot of difficult defenders on that one. Both Prowler and Spider-Punk look like amazing additions to the game! I think I want Prowler more for utility, but I wouldn't be mad if I got a Spider-Punk (Spunk? sounds wrong). Hardest Boss Fight for me was 2.1 Purgatory. It's a tough one.
Old Sarge's Final Thoughts: Not a bad month. The only rea Pain in the Ass Boss figh is Purgatory. Bith Prwoler and SpiderPunk are easy W's and look like they will be amazing champs.
Mint's EQ MVP: Kate Bishop. She can take at least 4 of the bosses for this month, including both of the new champions. She's arguably the best option for the skill quest, with an easy way to turn off evades.
Good luck to everyone running EQ this month, I hope this guide helps. As always- when someone posts a champ that kills a quest or a Boss, I'll update this spreadsheet!
Chapter 1.1
MUTANT
Main Nodes:
Antagonistic: Knock them down with Heavy Attacks and you get an Unblockable buff for 3 seconds plus 2 secs for each buff on you up to 9 secs.
Reckless Abandon: You get a fury when you hit them while YOU are unblockable.
Roll With the Punches: They reduce effects of stun 20% each time you stun them UNLESSS you have a Prowess (active or passive).
Achilles Heel: They take 20% less damage except from Specials, Heavies, and Unblockable attacks.
Bring:
Prowess!!! Gambit, Apoc, Sunspot, StormPX, Red Mags, White Mags, Emma Frost, anyone with Prowess will be good. Kitty (with Tigra synergy). Colossus (easy to get the full 9 second unblockable), Bishop, Jubilee, ProfX, OG Storm
Civilian Intel:
Heimdall, ProfX (Path MVP), Apoc (Boss Counter) : (Odin - prefight for ProfX - for extra long Unblockable)
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: Kitty Pryde, Bishop, Dani Moonstar & Colossus
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Easy Path: Watch out for Man-Thing towards the end- bring a poison immune.
Left Path: There is a Nova a few fights deep and he's a pain- Unblockable buffs ramp him up to Nova super quick. He tore through Kitty and Apoc. I ended up using ArchAngel and just not hitting him while I was Unblockable.
Up Path: A couple pain points here. Nick Fury can be annoying- I used Kitty (w/Tigra for constant Unblockable). Doom is also a pain as he can resist your Heavy when his Aura is up- which makes it harder to get Unblockable- play him slow and let his Aura time out.
Quest Boss: Mordo (Mystic)
Main Nodes:
Brutal Refresher: When you knock him down he gains a 50% Energize Passive for 6 seconds.
Explosive Personality: When you hit his block he gets an Armor Up Buff. At 5 they explode and you take big damage.
No Hit-M...ercy (Passive): He gets a 7 second Cruelty Passive when you knock him down. While he has a Cruelty he can Crit through your block.
Special Coup D'etat: You start withan 80% Cowardice passive. Intercepting Mordo transfers it to him fo 10 Seconds (paused during Special Attacks). It jumps back to you when the timer expires or if it is removed for any other reason.
Inside Out: If you are near him for 4 seconds you get Rooted for 4 seconds. Special Attacks remove root and prevent it from applying.
Piercing Pursuit: When you Dash back he gets a Pierce Passive (Max: 5). Intercepting removes them and prevents him for gaining more for 0 seconds {typo in game maybe - lol} [submitted as a bug - should be resolved soon]
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: This could be a very annoying fight. I took him with Morbius so that I could break his block when I needed to. Thankfully he was pretty liberal with launching his SP1 so I was able to get him down with an SP1 and an SP2. You really want a champ with built in Unblockable. If not- you can't hit his block too much because of Explosive Personality node.
Round 2: I tried AA and he works, but not as well as Mordo imo. AA's heavy does outreach Mordo's little jump back. But when he Turtles and you have to hit his block- you can only do that 4 times because of Explosive Personality node. Again- AA works, you just have to be careful. I died with AA (he only had a little life left after having to use him on the Nova fight on the left path (see "Landmine Path Fights" section above).
Last Round: I was pretty beat up from the last path- so I used Morbius again. His Glide is super useful for this fight and that massive SP2 with Bleeds is a 1-Shot.
Civilian Intel:
Spiderman2099 eats him.
AA parry heavy jumps over Mordo's little blast when stunned
Emma was a fun option for TB Mordo - easy solo first try. Diamond Form helps wear the Pierce effects and Telepath lets you counter Evade (if you get it)
Titania works well
Iceman works well against the Mordo boss. His cold snap prevents his astral evade so you can parry and attack. And his ice armor saves you the f you get stuck with Mordo being passive and he gets to his SP3.
OG Spidey with Spiderman99 relic: After SP1 Mordo can't Astral Evade because of webbibng, and dexing his Specials can place a Wither on him to deal with his Power Gain.
MoleMan can do this fight: Parry; 4 hits; dash back to avoid Root. If he Turtles- walk in to avoid hitting his block and heavy. If you go above 10 and lose True Accuracy just dex his Specials as normal.

Chapter 1.2
COSMIC
Main Nodes:
Crack in the Armor: When the defender has an armor break on them you have a 10% chance (per armor break) to get a passive fury when you land an attack.
Tough As Nails: Defender gets an armor up ever 3 secs.
Mystic Ward: Your nullify has a 95% chance to fail.
Bring:
Any Cosmic works. Those with easy access to Armor Breaks even better. Captain Marvel Movie, Knull (pop an Sp1 and all the armor breaks add up quick!), Angela (Odin Pre-fight is even better!), CGR, King Groot, Hyperion, Cull Obsidian, Corvus, Aarkus, Venom, Medusa, Terrax, Air-Walker (with Peni Parker synergy).
Civilian Intel:
Herc with CapIW and BP synergy absolutely wrecks!
Heim, CGR (Path MVP), Galan(duped only), Hulkling
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: CGR, King Groot, Vision (Aarkus), Gamora & Silver Surfer
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Easy Path: Not really a Landmine Fight- but he shrugs your Armor Breaks to fast to build up your Fury's very quickly- so it's a bit of a slog fight.
Quest Boss: Venom the Duck (Cosmic)
Main Nodes:
Genetic Recode - Hive Mind: +40% Aberration Buff charge at the start of the fight.
Dot Dot Dot: If you put a Damaging Debuff (DOT) on him then you are Power Locked for 10 seconds.
Icky Sticky: Every 10 seconds you are Rooted for 4 seconds land 10 hits to reset the timer. Special Attacks will get you out of it and prevent it.
Demigod Essence: Every 14 seconds he gains an Unblockable Passive for 7 seconds. Hitting him or his block while he doesn't have an Unblockable pauses the cooldown timer for 1 second. Also paused during Special Attacks.
Natural Armor: Armor Break Debuffs that you put on him are 25% more potent. However- he takes 75% less damage from all sources unless he has an Armor Break on him (break out your Iron Fists lol)
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: The good news is that the path fights need a Cosmic that can Armor Break- so you should have solid choices. There is a lot going on in this fight, but King Groot was great here- if you can get those Permanent Armor Breaks on him from SP1 it's not bad. The Root sucks a bit but KG can regen damage taken. The Unblockable is pretty easy to manage as long as you're aggressive. A Power Lock/Drain champ would be solid here- just not Doom because of the Dot Dot Dot node.
Round 2: Easy fight for Cosmic Ghost Rider. I'm no "Slayer of Gods", not even close, not even in the same solar system- lol. I actually rarely use mine and he's only a Rank 3 6*- and still, he wiped the floor with VtD. Just be aggressive.
Final Round: Took him down with Venom. It was hard to keep an Armor Break on him and I had to play conservative to get the Armor Breaks on him when I could. But I ended with 80% health so it wasn't too bad. And Venom's Bleeds cause some Power Locks from the Dot Dot Dot node.
Civilian Intel:
CGR
Knull
Red Goblin is very good for VtD
Sorcere Supreme is a great option: Get to SP3 and launch with Orange Spell. You then have Armor Break on every special - with Power Gain and Length of Specials.- it's always up and you besically ignore. Root.

Chapter 2.1
TECH
Main Nodes:
Engineered Fracture: Armor break and they are Heal Blocked.
Infectious Wrath: You get a fury when you block their healing
Nanite Healing: Every 15 seconds they regen/heal.
Indomitable: Defenders healing abilities cannot be reversed, only stopped.
Bring:
Peni Parker, Lady Deathstryke, Warlock. Howard the Duck. HulkBuster (Sp1 spam), Ultron puts heal block (with HB/Vision synergy), Captain America (Sam Wilson) with War Machine Synergy gives heal block on his SP1 so he is extremely viable.
Any Tech champ that armor breaks easy or can Heal Block. Civil Warrior (heal block on Heavy) and Red Skull heal blocks when you heavy (why not have some fun and get some use out of him!) Doc Ok (Chemistry Breakthrough). IMIW has heal block on his heavy attacks. Omega Sentinel (prefight heal-block).
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: Peni Parker, Lady Deathstrike, Warlock & Rocket Raccoon
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Quest Boss: Purgatory (Mystic)
Main Nodes:
Beast of Burden: For each Debuff you put on her she reduces the next ones by 30%.
Conflictor: Every 7 seconds the next Debuff you put on her is Purified and she gains 75% of a Bar of Power.
Obstinate Charge: She is Stun Immune for her first attack in a combo. Goes on cooldown for 8 seconds when you perform a Well-Timed Block.
Do Not Go Gentle: You gain 1 charge for every hit in your combo meter. When she receives damage from any source that would knock her out and you have 1 or more charges, a charge is consumed instead and you take damage equal to her attack. Intercepting her removes 2 Charges with no penalty. Landing a Heavy Attack also removes 1 charge with no penalty.
NODE CHANGE: Special Coup D'etat: You suffer from an 80% Cowardice Passive at the start of the fight. Intercepting Purgatory removes the Cowardice from you and puts it on her for 10 seconds (paused during Special Attacks). When it expires or is removed for any reason it is reapplied on the Attacker.
Bloody Mess: Bleed Debuffs and Passives deal 25% more damage to her and she takes 90% less damage from all sources unless she has a Bleed Debuff or Passive.
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: NGL- this is a pain in the ass fight. A lot of Power gain- I don't like the pairing of the Conflictor node with her built in Power Gain and then to put the Bloody mess node on it makes it even worse. I used Ultron since he can Bleed her and his SP3 Power Drains. He got her down to 33% health but I mistimed an SP2 Dex and then she went Unblockable when she launched her SP1 and I couldn't back up fast enough. Brought in Nick Fury and she just gained sooo much power. And I was having a hard time landing Re-Parry's. I got her by just going Nuke and sacrificing his Decoy and then just going ham on her. She also went super passive on the second fight and just kept saving for SP3. This might be a hard fight for smaller accounts. Hopefully the Civilian Intel comes through, cause this isn't a fun fight for me. lol
NOTE: They changed one of the nodes for this fight- not the one I would have chosen- I think the Bloody Mess node is the one that makes this fight super hard, but I digress.
Round 2: Still not a fun fight but I did get the solo with Nick. I played a lot slower and she was a lot less stingy with her Specials. No SP3s thankfully. I need to rank my Zemo up more, mine is only R3- I think he would be pretty solid for this fight- I agree with the Civilian Intel.
Round 3: I tried with Zemo and it went horrid, I couldn't put any bleeds on her for some reason. So I took her down with Nick again.
Final Round: I tried with Hit-Monkey - it sucked. Couldn't keep bleeds up. Went back in with Nick and took he down. All in all- I wasn't a fan of this fight.
Civilian Intel:
I used 5 star ascended Apoc and brought Mr. Sinister and White Mags for his pre fight. Did the job for an easy one shot.
I used Apoc just heavy into specials another good option is Zemo
Valkyrie did great against purgatory once she had all her pierce & bulwarks
Blade - {Damn- why didn't I think of him?}
Blade works for EQ. Parry the last hit of her sp1 to get rid of Conflictor and then play as normal.
OG Black Panther
Black Cat
Morbius {can't believe I didn't think of him- I used him for Mordo}
Hit-Monkey- Play slower and bait specials
ArchAngel using White Mags pre-fight
Kate Bishop with her caltrops arrow
Joe Fixit works great

Chapter 2.2
MYSTIC
Main Nodes:
Arcane Zeal: When you fill a bar of power you get a Prowess Passive for 15 seconds (increases your Special Attack damage +80%). Nullifying a buff while you have a Prowess makes it permanent.
Steady Perseverance: When they launch a special, they go Stun Immune for 6 seconds (NOTE: This can be prevented with Stagger)
Bring all the nullifiers. It’s gonna be fun!
Bring:
Doom, BWCV, Sigil Witch, Dr. Voodoo, Jane Foster, LongShot, Mojo, Juggs, Rintrah, Absorbing Man
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: America Chavez, White Tiger, Longshot & The Hood
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Easy Path: There are a lot of tough fights on this path- Sasquatch, Ebony Maw, Mangog, and Dragon Man (sorta).
Quest Boss: Stryfe (Mutant)
Main Nodes:
Now You See Me: You get a Falter debuff every 10 seconds. When you land a hit the timer is reset.
Critical Interruption: When you Intercept you get a Precision Passive granting Guaranteed Critical Hits for 7 seconds.
Arc Overload: Every 10 seconds he gains a 25% Armor Up Buff and a Regeneration Buff the heals him for 25% of his Max Health for 6 seconds.
Micro-Reflect: When he Glances an attack some of the damage is reflected back to you.
Hard Knock Life: When you Parry you get a Disorient which makes it harder to parry and lowers your Block Proficiency for 15 seconds.
Sloped Armor: Each Armor Up buff gives him a 15% chance to Glance incoming attacks.
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: Got the solo with BWCV but it was a long fight and he went Invisible a lot. Bait the SP1. This is a standard Stryfe fight if you can consistently Nullify his Armor Up and Regen from the Arc Overload node.
Round 2: I ran in with Howard and got the 1-Shot, but I couldn't get the spacing right to counter Heavy his Heavy. Parry gives you the passive Disorient so you'll need to watch those. Still- easier fight with HtD than with BWCV.
Round 3: I used HtD again but this time Stryfe glanced eventhough I had Armor Breaks up- I died to Micro Reflect node. Not sure what happened. I finished him off with Juggs- but it was a weird fight: he never went Invisible, I didn't take damage from Micro Reflect. This fight might have some bugs in it- or Juggs does stuff I don't know about. lol
Final Round: I tried HtD again, but he went Invisiblke a ton and I died. I also took a lot of damage from Micro Reflect. I have to disagree with Civilian Intel on this one- unless I was just doing something wrong. But Juggs wrecks him completely.
Civilian Intel:
Howard the Duck! Armor breaks mean no glancing to worry about.
Cap Sam: Lock On and you can't miss.
Red Mags is a great counter since he’s metal mags can’t miss and Stryfe won’t heal
CGR destroys this fight
Mojo can solo
CapSam: Locked-On makes it so you can't miss.

Chapter 3.1
SCIENCE
Main Nodes:
One-Two Punch: Knock down the defender while they are suffering from a Power Sting, Slow or Weakness. This applies a Petrify to the defender.
Erudite Ruse: Put Petrify, Enervate, Wither, or a Suppression on them. You get a Fury when they get a power gain.
Avarice: Defender gets a power gain buff every 15 secs.
Bring:
Scorpion, CapIW (with Science or Tech synergy), She Hulk, Ibom, Void, GHulk (Sp2), Wasp, Yellow Jacket, Spider Gwen, Mr F with She Hulk (synergy), Spider-Ham, Titania, QuickSilver (Play normally to SP2, mlm to detonate then do SP2), S99 (SP2 - better with Anti-Venom synergy), Mr. Negative (SP2), Full Fantastic 4 team w/ She-Hulk (Mr. F puts in work), Torch (he doesn't benefit from the nodes unless Nova Flame is active- but he still claps Mystics) Cassie Lang.
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: Photon, Scorpion, Silk & Mr Fantastic
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Quest Boss: Prowler (Tech)
Main Nodes:
On the Prowl: You are Special Locked for 2 seconds when you gain a Bar of Power.
Power Pain: If you are immune to Power Drain you are inflicted with a Power Detonation Passive for 5 seconds unless one is already active. If it expires naturally you take a burst of Direct Damage. If you launch a Special Attack it's removed. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
Buff Toggle (Unblockable): Every 8 seconds he goes Unblockable.
Rushdown: You start with 7 Rushdown Charges. When Prowlers Dash attach hits you or your Block it removes 1 charge. If you Knock him down you get a Charge. If you drop to 0 charges you get a 3 second Stun passive and your Charges are restored.
Defensive Transference: He gets an Armor Up Buff when you block an Attack. Max stacks 10.
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: Cool champ!! I ran CapIW in to get a feel. I kept forgetting that I can't run in and punish his SP1 (he makes you miss for a second or two after his SP1). SP 1 is easy to Dex- just don't rush in lol. I got him down to about 60% with CapIW. Welp! Doom handles him just fine. Just watch for the Unblockable and remember that you can't launch Specials for 2 seconds after you gain a Bar of Power. Other than that- easy win for Doom.
Round 2: This is a very easy fight for Hulkling. Just watch for when Prowler goes Unblockable and don't try to punish his SP1. Other than that- standard Hulking rotation.
Pound 3-Final: I used Hulkling for the rest of the rounds, though I did have success with Scorpion on my last run. But I got sloppy and took the L. Hulkling cleaned up.
Sarge's Initial Thoughts: I really like him. I watched his Deep Dive before I fought him and I suggest you do the same. Design Team Don't Miss!
Civilian Intel:
He is #METAL: Red Mags him. SP3 go BOOM!!
CGR destroys Prowler.
Scorpion is good for 3.1. Sp2 to deal with the power gain and run shock immunity so you don't have to worry about gaining your dex precision.
Gorr is a great option. (also #MagicThief for
Jut Herc it! SP1 spam destroys Prowler and cannot miss when you punish his SP1.
Galan , and he works perfectly , at max you'll have to take 1-2 detonations...but the armor ups supercharge Galan ....so its over by the time he reaches sp2
Vox: just build up to sp2 and don't have to worry bout falter
BWCV runs through Prowler easily and is also an option for Paragon Guantlet.

Chapter 3.2
SKILL
Main Nodes:
Skillfull Distraction: Skill champs prevent Evade when the defender suffers from Disorient, Shock, Incinerate.
Minds Eye: Skill attackers get a fury when the defenders evade is prevented.
MixMaster: Using the same basic attack twice in a row and they evade.
Bring:
Hit-Monkey, Shang Chi (Parry/Medium/Medium for slow will stop the evade), Kraven, BWDO (smashes this quest), Falcon (Locked-On), MoleMan, Nick Fury, Ronin, Elsa Bloodstone, Thor Rags, Masacre (SP1 puts a really long Disorient on them)
Agent Venom Trinity (Agent V places Incinerates with the trinity), Kate Bishop. Zemo- Just throw one sp1 and the defender gets an indefinite disorient passive for the rest of the fight :)
Sarge Says: When they have disorient/incinerate/shock- hit into their block if they go passive and you will still build the furies but they won't evade.
Also- If you run Will Power- let them evade once so you get the Fatigue and get some free healing.
Mint'y Fresh:
Path counters provided by Mint: Kate Bishop, Baron Zemo, Attuma, Nick Fury & Shang-Chi
Drachenherz Brings the Pain:
Path counters provided by Drachenherz:
Landmine Path Fights:
Down Path: First fight is Gamora. This whole path was rough for me- the extra node is Rooted if close when the Defender launches a Special. But the two had fights are Ebony Maw (He took out 2 champs but I got him with BWDO) and Nova (He took out 2 mor champs and I got him down with Nick- but I lost Decoy Nick).
Quest Boss: Spider-Punk (Science)
Main Nodes:
One of Everything: You get a 200% Fury Buff if you throw ALL of your Special Attack in any order. This resets if you throw a repeated Special Attack.
Evasive Maneuvers: When you knock him down he gets an Evade Charge for 8 seconds. 100% Chance he will evade you.
Ruptured Eardrums: When either champ is inflicted with or is immune to a Rupture Effect, the other champ receives a Power gain Passive- granting 20% of a Bar of power over 5 seconds.
Dodge Souls (Prowess): He has +95% Block Penetration and can Crit through your Block. Whenever you Dodge or Evade an attack you get an indefinite prowess Buff (10% potency). Max Stacks: 50.
I Am Root!: You are Rooted during his Special Attacks.
Old Sarge Says:
Round 1: He's so badass looking! I got the pretty easy 1-Shot with Masacre. Just DON'T try to intercept him!! He retaliates. His SP1 is easy to Dex- but there are several hits- 4 actually. So even though you are Rooted- they are easy to Dex. With the Prowess you gain from Dodge Souls node- 1 SP2 was pretty much all it took.
Round 2: Easy W for Nick, as long as you remember not to try to intercept him. lol
Round 3: I tired BWDO and she worked great but I kept forgetting no to Intercept. Finished off with Nick.
Round 4: I was down to 20% with Real Nick Fury from the path fights (see Landmine Path Fights above) but I got him down to 10% health before mis-timing Dex on his SP1 while Rooted. A 20% Revive on BWDO finished the fight off.
Final Round: I got the 1-Shot with Hit-Monkey but it was close. It's hard to not be able to Intercept since Hit-Monkey just takes so much Block Damage.
Sarge's Initial Thoughts: The Design Team totally nailed this one! Such a great looking champ from a purely aesthetic angle. And he looks like he will be great Offensively and Defensively. 10/10!!
Civilian Intel:
Killmonger annihilates Punk
BWDO is an amazing option.
Kingpin easy solo- Build Prowess, SP3 and spam heavy
Nick Fury makes this fight easy.
